Paul Dunlap received a B.Sc. in microbiology from Oregon State University in 1975 and a Ph.D. in biology from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1984, after which he did post-doctoral research in microbiology at Cornell University. He has held faculty appointments at New Mexico State University, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, the University of Maryland, and the University of Michigan, where he is a professor of ecology and evolutionary biology. He teaches a large introductory microbiology course and an upper level course in microbial diversity. His research interests focus on marine bioluminescent symbiosis and the physiology, genetics, and phylogeny of luminous bacteria. |
